The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 and a few from later times. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and spreading shade 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
