The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining face to face. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and spreading shade 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruit in plenty 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
