The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 facing one another. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And shade extended 30 And water gushing, 31 and fruits abounding 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And raised couches. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virgins. 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For those on the right. 38
