The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 and continuous shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
