The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and spreading shade 30 and flowing water 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
