The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and extended shade, 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
