The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and gushing water, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins. 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For those on the right. 38
