The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 You will become three categories: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 near to flowing water 31 and fruits abounding 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 We have made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
