The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and flowing water, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For those on the right. 38
