The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and spreading shade 30 And water poured out 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
