The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And shade extended 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And raised couches; 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virginal, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
