The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 And shade extended 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
