The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 and a few from later times. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 and clustered bananas, 29 And extended shade, 30 and flowing water 31 and abundant fruits, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
