The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruit of what they select 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and spreading shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those on the right hand; 38
