The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 and a few from later times. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And carpets raised. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
