The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 You will become three categories: 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 Gushing water, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
