The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On studded thrones. 15 facing one another. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and spreading shade 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 and made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
