The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 Abasing exalting. 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude of those of old 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And spreading shade, 30 near to flowing water 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those of the right hand. 38
