The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 there is no denying its coming 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining face to face. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 like hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and spreading shade 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit in plenty 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And couches raised up. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 We have made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
