The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 like hidden pearls, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and continuous shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 for the people of the right hand 38
