The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and gushing water, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 and upraised couches. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 for those on the Right, 38

عند قراءة القرآن الملون في وضعية اللغة العربية المرسومة بالأحرف الإنجليزية، قد لا تلاحظ وجود منظومة برمجية مصممة لمطابقة متطلبات علامات الوقف في النص العربي الأصلي. فكما تعلم، يحتوي القرآن على خمسة أنواع رئيسية من علامات الوقف. (1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. (3) وقف جائز مع تساوي أولوية الوقف والوصل، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال النصف للنصف. (4) وقف جائز مع الوصل أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلث. (5) وقف المجاذبة أو المعانقة حيث يجب الوقف في أي من موضعين قريبين ولكن ليس كلاهما، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة تظهر في أحد الموقعين باحتمال النصف للنصف.
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
