The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 The Companions of the Right 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And spreading shade, 30 And water everflowing. 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
