The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 a host of the ancients 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 And spreading shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And carpets raised. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
