A crowd of earlier generations 39 And a multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the later times (generations). 40 Those on the Left: how unfortunate are those on the Left! 41 Will be in the scorching wind and boiling water, 42 in the shadow of a smoking blaze, 43 Nothing (will there be) to refresh, nor to please: 44 and before that they lived at ease, 45 and had persisted in the Great Sin. 46 They used to say: “What! Once we are dead and are reduced to dust and bones, shall we still be raised to a new life from the dead? 47 Or our fathers of yore? 48 Proclaim, “Without doubt all the former and the latter.” 49 "All will certainly be gathered together for the meeting appointed for a Day well-known. 50 Then lo! ye, the erring, the deniers, 51 you shall eat of a tree called Zakkoum, 52 filling your bellies with it; 53 And thereon ye will drink of boiling water, 54 drink it as the most insatiably thirsty camels drink!" 55 This will be their welcome on the Day of Judgment. 56 WE who have created you, [O men:] why, then, do you not accept the truth? 57 Have you ever considered that [seed] which you emit? 58 Did you create it, or are We the Creator? 59 We have destined death for you and no one can challenge Us 60 That We may transfigure you and make you what ye know not. 61 You are well aware of the first creation; then, do you learn no lesson from it? 62 Ponder upon the soil you till, 63 Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower? 64 If We willed, surely We would make it chaff, so that ye would be left wondering. 65 'We are debt-loaded; 66 nay, we have been robbed!' 67 So what is your opinion regarding the water that you drink? 68 Do ye bring it down (in rain) from the cloud or do We? 69 [It comes down sweet - but] were it Our will, We could make it burningly salty and bitter: why, then, do you not give thanks [unto Us]? 70 Tell Me! The fire which you kindle, 71 Have you raised its tree, or We have raised it? 72 We! it is We Who made it a reminder and a provision unto the campers. 73 Therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him) proclaim the Purity of the name of your Lord, the Greatest. 74
