A multitude of those of old 39 And a multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the later times (generations). 40 As for the people on the left hand, how miserable they will be! 41 Amidst scorching wind and scalding water. 42 and under the shadow of black smoke, 43 Which is neither cool nor is for respect. 44 They were endowed with good things 45 And they have been persisting in the heinous offence. 46 And they used to say: When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then, forsooth, be raised again, 47 “And also our forefathers?” 48 Say (O Muhammad SAW): "(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times. 49 Are to be gathered together for the appointment of a known Day." 50 Then you, you misguided ones, who deny the truth, 51 shall all eat from the Tree of al-Zaqqum, 52 You shall fill your bellies with it, 53 and thereupon you shall drink boiling water, 54 drinking it as thirsty camels do.” 55 Such will be their welcome on the Day of Judgement. 56 We have created you, so why do you not believe? 57 Have you considered the seed? 58 Is it you who create it - or are We the source of its creation? 59 We have destined death for you and no one can challenge Us 60 That We may transfigure you and make you what ye know not. 61 And ye certainly know already the first form of creation: why then do ye not celebrate His praises? 62 Ponder upon the soil you till, 63 Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower? 64 Were it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry pieces, and you would be regretful (or left in wonderment). 65 Surely we are burdened with debt: 66 Rather, we have been deprived." 67 Tell Me! The water that you drink. 68 Is it you who cause it to come down from the clouds - or are We the cause of its coming down? 69 If We will We can make it bitter, so why do you not give thanks? 70 Have you considered the fire you kindle? 71 Did you produce the tree that serves as fuel or do We? 72 We Ourselves made it for a reminder, and a boon to the desert-dwellers. 73 So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great. 74
