A large group from the earlier generations. 39 And a numerous company from among the last. 40 BUT AS FOR those who have persevered in evil - what of those who have persevered in evil? 41 (They will be) in the midst of a Fierce Blast of Fire and in Boiling Water, 42 and the shadow of a smoking blaze 43 Neither cool nor beneficial. 44 Indeed they were among favours before this. 45 And they have been persisting in the heinous offence. 46 And said: "What! When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we then be raised again? 47 And so will our fathers?" 48 Proclaim, “Without doubt all – the former and the latter.” 49 will indeed be gathered together at an appointed time on a Day known [only to God]: 50 and then, verily, O you who have gone astray and called the truth a lie, 51 shall all eat from the Tree of al-Zaqqum, 52 and fill your bellies with it, 53 And drink over it scalding water, 54 "So you will drink (that) like thirsty camels!" 55 Such will be their entertainment on the Day of Requital! 56 We have created you, so why do you not believe? 57 Have you seen sperm? 58 Is it ye who create it, or are We the Creators? 59 We! it is We Who have decreed death unto you all. And We are not to be outrun. 60 from changing your Forms and creating you (again) in (forms) that ye know not. 61 And verily ye know the first creation. Why, then, do ye not reflect? 62 Have ye seen that which ye cultivate? 63 Do you give it its increase, or are We the giver? 64 If We will, We would make it broken stubble and you would remain wondering, 65 “We have been penalised; 66 nay, we have been robbed!' 67 Did you cast a good look at the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who cause it to descend from the clouds, or do We? 69 If We willed, surely We would make it brackish. Wherefore give ye not thanks? 70 Have you considered the fire which you strike? 71 Is it you who have brought into being the tree that serves as its fuel - or are We the cause of its coming into being? 72 We have made it a reminder, and a blessing to the traveler. 73 Therefore glorify the name of your Lord, the Great. 74
