A numerous company from among the first, 39 And a large group from the latter. 40 As for the Companions of the Left 41 [They will be] in scorching fire and scalding water 42 and a shade of thick, pitch-black smoke, 43 [shadows] neither cooling nor soothing. 44 They had lived in luxury before this 45 And they persisted in the great violation. 46 And they used to say, "What! when we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised up again?- 47 “And also our forefathers?” 48 Say: "Indeed, the earlier and the later generations 49 will be brought together for an appointment on an appointed day. 50 Then you, the erring and the deniers, 51 Shall surely eat of the tree of Az-Zqqum. 52 "Then you will fill your bellies therewith, 53 And drinking on top of it from scalding water 54 And drink as drinks the thirsty camel. 55 Such will be their welcome on Judgment Day! 56 It is We Who created you, so why do you not accept the truth? 57 Just consider (the semen) that you emit, 58 Create him ye, or are We the Creator? 59 It is We Who ordained death upon you and We are not to be frustrated. 60 from changing the nature of your existence and bringing you into being [anew] in a manner [as yet] unknown to you. 61 And you have already known the first creation, so will you not remember? 62 Have you seen what you sow? 63 Do you give it its increase, or are We the giver? 64 If We willed, We could make it [dry] debris, and you would remain in wonder, 65 "We are ruined, 66 Rather, we have been deprived." 67 See ye the water which ye drink? 68 Do you send it down from the clouds, or We send it down? 69 If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful? 70 Have you considered the fire which you strike? 71 Is it you who made the tree thereof to grow, or are We the Grower? 72 We! it is We Who made it a reminder and a provision unto the campers. 73 Then magnify the Name of thy Lord, the All-mighty. 74
