▼ 56 The Inevitable
Al-Waaqe'ah 3 of 3
۞ Nay, I swear by the setting of the stars -- 75 and, indeed, that is a most mighty oath, if you only knew -- 76 That (this) is indeed a noble Qur'an 77 In a book that is protected 78 Only they can reach it who are clean (of mind). 79 A Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds. 80 Would you, now, look down with disdain on a tiding like this, 81 And make denial thereof your livelihood? 82 Why, then, when the soul leaps up to the throat of the dying 83 And you wait for the moment (of death), 84 We are closer to him than you, even though you cannot see? 85 So why is it not, that if you are not to be repaid, – 86 why are you then not able to bring them back to life if you are truthful? 87 Then, if he (the dying person) be of the Muqarrabun (those brought near to Allah), 88 (There is for him) rest and provision, and a Garden of delights (Paradise). 89 and if he be a Companion of the Right: 90 Then: peace unto thee, for thou art of those on the right hand. 91 But if one happens to be of those who are wont to call the truth a lie, and [thus] go astray, 92 Then the welcome will be boiling water 93 And roasting in a Blaze. 94 That indeed is the absolute truth. 95 So glorify the name of your Great Lord. 96

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
