Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ BLESSED BE HE who holds the (reins of) Kingship in His hand, who has power over everything, 1 Who created death and life that He might try you as to which of you is better in deed. He is the Most Mighty, the Most Forgiving; 2 The One Who created the seven heavens atop each other; do you see any discrepancy in the creation of the Most Gracious? Therefore lift your gaze – do you see any cracks? 3 Then return [your] vision twice again. [Your] vision will return to you humbled while it is fatigued. 4 And indeed, We have adorned the skies nearest to the earth with lights, and have made them the object of futile guesses for the evil ones [from among men]: and for them have We readied suffering through a blazing flame 5 For those who believe not in their Lord there is the punishment of Hell; and what a wretched destination 6 When they will be cast thereinto, they will hear thereof a braying even as it boileth up, 7 It almost explodes in rage. Whenever a group is thrown into it, its keepers will ask them, "Did no one come to warn you?" 8 They will say: "Yes indeed; a warner did come to us, but we belied him and said: 'Allah never sent down anything (of revelation), you are only in great error.'" 9 And they will then say: 'If only we had listened and understood we should not now be among the inhabitants of the Blaze' 10 Thus will they come to realize their sins: but [by that time,] remote will have become all good from those who are destined for the blazing flame. 11 Surely those who fear their Lord in the Unseen -- there awaits them forgiveness and a great wage. 12 And conceal your word or manifest it; surely He is Cognizant of what is in the hearts. 13 How could it be that He who has created [all] should not know [all]? Yea, He alone is unfathomable [in His wisdom,] aware! 14
