Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ THE CONCRETE REALITY. 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 The people of Thamud and Ad denied the Day of Judgment. 4 Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), 5 And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 So do you see any survivor among them? 8 And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, 9 And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. 10 Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, 11 That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. 12 So, when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow - 14 on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. 17 That will be the Day when you shall be brought forth (before Allah) and no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Then, as for him who is given his record in his right hand, he will say: Take, read my book! 19 “I was certain that I will confront my account.” 20 So he will be in a pleasant life - 21 In a lofty garden, 22 The fruit clusters of which are hanging down. 23 Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent on before you in days past! 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 And had not known what is my account. 26 Oh, would that it had been the ending! 27 Of no use was even my wealth. 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 And string him to a chain seventy cubits long. 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, 34 Therefore he has not here today a true friend, 35 nor any food save the filth 36 that none excepting the sinners eat.' 37
