Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 1 How tremendous is the true event! 2 And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and A’ad denied the event of great dismay. (The Day of Resurrection) 4 So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 which He let loose upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession; so that (if you had been there) you might have seen people lying prostrate, as though they were uprooted trunks of hollowed palm trees. 7 Then seest thou any of them left surviving? 8 And Pharaoh and those before him, and the communities that were destroyed, brought error, 9 They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. 10 Verily when the water rose to great heights, We bore you upon a floating vessel (i.e. the Ark) 11 That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 when the earth with all its mountains is lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 So that is the day when the forthcoming event will occur. 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. 17 On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. 18 Then as to him who will be vouchsafed his book in his right hand, he shall say: here! read my book! 19 Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." 20 And he will be in a life of Bliss, 21 in a lofty paradise, 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 “Eat and drink with pleasure the reward of what you sent ahead, in the past days.” 24 And whoever is given his book in his left hand he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” 25 and knew nothing of my reckoning. 26 I wish death had put an end to me. 27 Our wealth is of no benefit to us 28 Vanished has my power from me." 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 Then into Hellfire drive him. 31 Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long: 32 for, behold, he did not believe in God, the Tremendous, 33 “And did not urge to feed the needy.” 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 nor any food save the filth 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
