Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The sure calamity! 1 and what is the Resurrection Verifier? 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. 4 So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And as for 'Aad they were destroyed by a wind, furious, roaring. 6 violent that He compelled against them seven nights and eight days, uninterruptedly, and thou mightest see the people laid prostrate in it as if they were the stumps of fallen down palm-trees. 7 and dost thou now see any remnant of them? 8 And Pharaoh and those before him, and the communities that were destroyed, brought error, 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 Verily We! when the water rose, We bare you upon the traversing ark. 11 So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it. 12 So when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, 14 then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for on that Day it will be so frail. 16 On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord's throne aloft. 17 The Day whereon ye shall be mustered nothing hidden by you shall be hidden. 18 So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! 19 I was sure that the record of my deeds would be shown to me". 20 So he will be in a pleasant life - 21 in a lofty garden, 22 with clusters of fruit within easy reach. 23 We shall say to him, "Eat and drink joyfully as a reward for the good deeds you did in days gone by." 24 But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he shall say, 'Would that I had not been given my book 25 “And had never come to know my account!” 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 “My wealth did not in the least benefit me.” 28 "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" 29 It will be said, “Seize him, and shackle him.” 30 Roast him in Hell, 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 “Indeed he refused to accept faith in Allah, the Greatest.” 33 nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. 34 therefore he today has not here one loyal friend, 35 and the only food he has is filth 36 which only the sinners will eat.” 37
