Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Indubitable! 1 What is the Sure Reality? 2 What do you comprehend by the concrete reality? 3 (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 Do you see any remnants of them? 8 And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship 11 so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound one blast 13 when the earth with all its mountains is lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 on that Day, the Event occurs. 15 when the sky will be rent asunder, the grip holding it together having loosened on that Day, 16 And the angels shall be on the sides thereof; and above them eight shall bear on that day your Lord's power. 17 The Day whereon ye shall be mustered nothing hidden by you shall be hidden. 18 Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Take, read my Record! 19 “I was certain that I will confront my account.” 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 In a Garden lofty. 22 Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. 23 (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 and had not known my account. 26 Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 Gone from me is my authority." 29 It will be said, “Seize him, and shackle him.” 30 then throw them into hell to be heated up therein. 31 then in a chain of seventy cubits' length insert him! 32 Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 Wherefore for him here this Day there is no friend. 35 Nor any food except refuse, 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
