Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ The sure calamity! 1 What is the sure calamity! 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, 6 which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. 7 Do you see any remnants of them? 8 And Firaun, and those before him, and the dwellings that were inverted and thrown, had brought error. 9 When they disobeyed the apostle of their Lord He seized them with an overwhelming punishment. 10 Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship 11 In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. 12 Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet, 13 And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, 14 On that day shall the great event come to pass, 15 And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, 16 And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. 18 So whoever is given his book in his right hand – he will say, “Take, read my account!” 19 Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 in a high Garden, 22 The fruits of which are near at hand: 23 Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". 24 And as for him who is given his book in his left hand he shall say: O would that my book had never been given me: 25 “And had never come to know my account!” 26 Would that it (my death) had ended it all! 27 My riches have availed me not; 28 There hath perished from me my authority. 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 Then cast him to be burnt in Hell; 31 "Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits!" 32 Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 Therefore he has not here today a true friend, 35 "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, 36 None will eat except the Khati'un (sinners, disbelievers, polytheists, etc.). 37
