Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Inevitable Reality - 1 What is the Inevitable? 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]! 4 But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! 5 and the 'Ad were destroyed by a furious wind 6 Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. 7 Now dost thou see any remnant of them? 8 And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, 9 When they disobeyed the apostle of their Lord He seized them with an overwhelming punishment. 10 Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, 11 so that We might make it a reminder for you and so that attentive ears might retain it. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound one blast 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 And the angels shall be on the borders thereof; and on that Day eight shall bear over them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 That Day shall you be brought to Judgement, not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! 19 “I was certain that I will confront my account.” 20 His shall be a pleasing life 21 In a Garden on high, 22 with its fruits within easy reach. 23 Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent on before you in days past! 24 But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record 25 and that we would never knew what our records contained. 26 O would that it had made an end (of me): 27 "My wealth has not availed me, 28 and my authority has been destroyed' 29 "Seize him and manacle him, 30 Then cast him to be burnt in Hell; 31 Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long: 32 Verily he was wont not to believe in Allah, the Mighty. 33 And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 neither any food saving foul pus, 36 that none excepting the sinners eat.' 37
