Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what do you know what that indubitable event is? 3 Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. 4 The Thamuds were destroyed by a violent blast of sound. 5 And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 and dost thou now see any remnant of them? 8 And Firon and those before him and the overthrown cities continuously committed sins. 9 They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 making it a Reminder for you, for all attentive ears to retain. 12 Then when the Trumpet will be blown with one blowing (the first one), 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, 15 And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. 16 The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. 17 On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. 19 "Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!" 20 And he will be in a life of Bliss, 21 in a high Garden, 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he shall say, 'Would that I had not been given my book 25 Nor known whatever was my reckoning! 26 Oh, would that it had been the ending! 27 My wealth has been of no use to me. 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 "Seize him and manacle him, 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 Fasten a chain to them - seventy cubits long - 32 "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. 33 "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! 34 “So he does not have any friend here this day.” 35 and no food except pus 36 that none but sinners eat' 37
