Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Resurrection Verifier; 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 What makes you to know what the Resurrection Verifier is? 3 The people of Thamud and Ad denied the Day of Judgment. 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 And as for A’ad, they were destroyed by a severe thundering windstorm. 6 Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. 7 Beholdest thou any of them remaining? 8 Pharoah and those before him and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities persistently committed grave sins. 9 And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. 10 And when the waters rose (high) We carried you in the sailing (Ark), 11 that We might make it a reminder for you and for heeding ears to hold. 12 So, when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. 14 On that day, the inevitable event will take place 15 when the sky will be rent asunder, the grip holding it together having loosened on that Day, 16 And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 Then as to him who will be vouchsafed his book in his right hand, he shall say: here! read my book! 19 Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," 20 So he shall have an agreeable life 21 In a high garden 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 “Eat and drink with pleasure the reward of what you sent ahead, in the past days.” 24 But he who is given his record in his left hand will say, "If only I had never been given my Record 25 Nor known whatever was my reckoning! 26 “Alas, if only it had been just death.” 27 My wealth has not helped me a thing 28 There hath perished from me my authority. 29 (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, 30 then throw them into hell to be heated up therein. 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. 34 That is why he has no friend today, 35 neither any food saving foul pus, 36 which only the sinners eat". 37
