Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 1 What is the Inevitable Calamity? 2 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. 5 as for Aad, they were destroyed by a howling, violent wind 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship 11 So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it. 12 And when the trumpet is blown with a single blast, 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, 14 Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for on that Day it will be so frail. 16 And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. 17 That Day shall you be brought to Judgement, not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. 19 I was certain I'll be given my account." 20 He is therefore in the desired serenity. 21 in a lofty Garden, 22 The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. 23 [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! 26 “Alas, if only it had been just death.” 27 My riches have availed me not; 28 My power hath gone from me. 29 Seize him and fetter him, 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 "Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits!" 32 He did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. 34 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 35 Nor any food except refuse, 36 None shall eat it but the sinners. 37
