Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! 1 What is the sure calamity! 2 And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is! 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. 5 The Ads were destroyed by a swift, destructive gale 6 To which He subjected them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that thou mightest have seen men during it lying prostrate, as though they were stumps of palms ruined. 7 Do you see any remnants of them? 8 And Fir'awn and those before him and the overturned cities committed sin. 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's apostle, so He laid hold of them with a grip increasing. 10 Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 So when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 And the earth is moved, and its mountains, and they are crushed to powder at one stroke,- 14 on that Day, the Event occurs. 15 when the sky will be rent asunder, the grip holding it together having loosened on that Day, 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book: 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 His shall be a pleasing life 21 In a Garden lofty. 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." 24 As for him whose Record will be given to him in his left hand, he will exclaim: “Would that I had never been given my Record, 25 "And that I had never known, how my Account is? 26 I wish my death had been the decisive one. 27 My riches have availed me not; 28 and my authority has vanished.” 29 The angels will be told, "Seize and chain them, 30 Then cast him to be burnt in Hell; 31 then fasten him with a chain, seventy cubits long. 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 On this day, they will have no friends 35 nor any food save the filth 36 Which none but sinners eat. 37
