Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The sure calamity! 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is! 3 Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. 4 The Thamuds were destroyed by a violent blast of sound. 5 And as to Ad, they were destroyed by a roaring, violent blast. 6 He forced it upon them with strength, consecutively for seven nights and eight days – so you would see those people overthrown in it, like trunks of date palms fallen down. 7 and dost thou now see any remnant of them? 8 And Firaun, and those before him, and the dwellings that were inverted and thrown, had brought error. 9 They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. 10 Verily We! when the water rose, We bare you upon the traversing ark. 11 In order to make it a warning for you, and that the ear retentive may preserve it. 12 Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, 13 And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crush. 14 On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. 16 and the angels will stand on the sides, with eight of them bearing aloft the Throne of your Lord on that Day. 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. 19 Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' 20 His shall be a pleasing life 21 In high empyrean 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. 24 And as for him who is given his book in his left hand he shall say: O would that my book had never been given me: 25 And I had not known what my account was: 26 "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! 27 "My wealth has not availed me, 28 "My power has perished from me!"... 29 "Seize him and manacle him, 30 Then cast him into the burning fire, 31 Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long: 32 "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. 33 nor were they concerned with feeding the destitute. 34 On this day, they will have no friends 35 Nor any food save filthy corruption. 36 Which none but the hellish eat." 37
