Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Sure Reality! 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable? 3 Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. 4 Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), 5 The Ads were destroyed by a swift, destructive gale 6 Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. 7 Then do you see of them any remains? 8 Then came the Pharaoh, and those before him whose habitations were overthrown while they were committing crimes. 9 They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. 10 Verily when the water rose to great heights, We bore you upon a floating vessel (i.e. the Ark) 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. 14 Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, 15 and the sky will be rent asunder - for, frail will it have become on that Day; 16 And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that day all your secrets will be exposed. 18 So whoever is given his book in his right hand – he will say, “Take, read my account!” 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 And he will be in a life of Bliss, 21 In high empyrean 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.' 24 But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, 25 And had not known what is my account. 26 Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 I am bereft of power." 29 (It will be said): 'Take him and bind him. 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him." 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 nor were they concerned with feeding the destitute. 34 Therefor hath he no lover here this day, 35 Nor food other than suppuration (filth) 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
