Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The true event! 1 What is the Inevitable Calamity? 2 And what shall make thee know that which the Inevitable Calamity is. 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. 5 And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind 6 that He subjected upon them for seven nights and eight days consecutively and you might have seen them struck down as if they were the stumps of palm trees that had fallen down. 7 Then seest thou any of them left surviving? 8 And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. 9 And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. 10 Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship 11 That We might make it unto you an admonition, and that it might be retained by the retaining ears. 12 So when the Trumpet will be blown, with a sudden single blow. 13 And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crush. 14 Then on that Day shall happen the Event. 15 when the sky will be rent asunder, the grip holding it together having loosened on that Day, 16 And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 That will be the Day when you shall be brought forth (before Allah) and no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." 20 Then he shall be in a life well-pleasing 21 in a lofty garden, 22 its fruits are near. 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 Nor known whatever was my reckoning! 26 I wish death had put an end to me. 27 Of no avail to me is all that I have [ever] possessed, 28 There hath perished from me my authority. 29 Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him, 30 Then cast him into the burning fire, 31 "Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits!" 32 “Indeed he refused to accept faith in Allah, the Greatest.” 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 Today he shall have no loyal friend here, 35 and no food except pus 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
