Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The sure calamity! 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what will make you know what the Reality is? 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind; 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 and dost thou now see any remnant of them? 8 Similarly, Pharaoh, and those before him, and the ruined villages, sinned 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, therefor did He grip them with a tightening grip. 10 And when the waters rose (high) We carried you in the sailing (Ark), 11 so that We might make it a reminder for you and so that attentive ears might retain it. 12 Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, 13 the earth and mountains will be raised up high and crushed all together. 14 on that Day shall that indubitable event come to pass; 15 when the sky will be rent asunder, the grip holding it together having loosened on that Day, 16 The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that day all your secrets will be exposed. 18 Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Indeed, I knew that I should come to my reckoning' 20 Then he will be in blissful state 21 In an elevated garden, 22 the clusters of whose fruit will be hanging low to be within reach (of the inmates of Paradise). 23 [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" 24 And as for him who is given his book in his left hand he shall say: O would that my book had never been given me: 25 And not known my account! 26 How I wish my death had ended all. 27 My wealth has been of no use to me. 28 and our belief has destroyed us". 29 [Thereupon the command will go forth:] "Lay hold of him, and shackle him, 30 Then into Hellfire drive him. 31 And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits. 32 He would not believe in Allah, the Most Great; 33 nor were they concerned with feeding the destitute. 34 That is why he has no friend today, 35 and no food except pus 36 which only the sinners eat". 37
