Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! 3 Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. 4 So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And as for A’ad, they were destroyed by a severe thundering windstorm. 6 which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. 7 Do you see any vestige left of them now? 8 And Fir'awn and those before him and the overturned cities committed sin. 9 When they disobeyed the apostle of their Lord He seized them with an overwhelming punishment. 10 Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, 11 that We might make it a reminder for you and for heeding ears to hold. 12 Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 On that day, the inevitable event will take place 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. 16 and the angels [will appear] at its ends, and above them, eight will bear aloft on that Day the throne of thy Sustainer's almightiness… 17 On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Surely I knew that I shall meet my account. 20 Then he shall find himself in a life of bliss; 21 In a Garden on high, 22 its clusters nigh to gather. 23 'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.' 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 and that we would never knew what our records contained. 26 Would that it (my death) had ended it all! 27 "My wealth has not availed me, 28 There hath perished from me my authority. 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 And then expose him to hell-fire 31 "Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits!" 32 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, 33 nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, 34 so today he has no friend here, 35 Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
