Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 1 What is the Sure Reality? 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 The Thamud and the 'Ad People (branded) as false the Stunning Calamity! 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the outburst. 5 and the Ad were destroyed by a furiously raging wind-storm 6 Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees. 7 Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? 8 Pharaoh and those before him and the people of the overturned habitations all engaged in the same great sin. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), 11 In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. 12 When a single blow is blown on the Horn, 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. 17 That will be the Day when you shall be brought forth (before Allah) and no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Then he who is given his record in his right hand will exclaim, "Here is my record, read it. 19 Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' 20 So he shall be in a pleasing life 21 In high empyrean 22 The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. 23 Eat and drink with benefit for that which ye sent on beforehand in days past. 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 Nor that I knew my reckoning! 26 Oh! Would that the death that came to me in the world had made an end of me! 27 Of no avail to me is all that I have [ever] possessed, 28 “All my power has vanished.” 29 [Thereupon the command will go forth:] "Lay hold of him, and shackle him, 30 Then cast him into the burning fire, 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 He would not believe in Allah, the Most Great; 33 and he never urged the feeding of the needy; 34 On this day, they will have no friends 35 and the only food he has is filth 36 that none but sinners eat' 37
