The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
A questioner questioned concerning the doom about to fall 1 Upon the disbelievers, which none can repel, 2 From Allah, the Lord of the ways of Ascent. 3 On that Day (of Judgment), long as fifty thousand years, the angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him. 4 (Muhammad), exercise patience with no complaints. 5 They think that it (the Day of Judgment) is far away. 6 And We behold it nigh. 7 On the day when the heavens become like molten metal. 8 and the mountains will become like tufts of wool, 9 And not a friend shall ask a friend, 10 though they may see each other. A sinner will wish that he could save himself from the torment of that day by sacrificing his children, 11 his companion (wife), his brother, 12 And his family who had stood by him, 13 and all the people of the earth, if that could deliver him. 14 No! Indeed, it is the Flame [of Hell], 15 will strip-off the flesh 16 It shall call him who turneth back and backslideth. 17 and amassed wealth and hoarded it. 18 ۞ Truly man was created very impatient;- 19 Irritable (discontented) when evil touches him; 20 And, when good befalleth him, grudging; 21 Except those who closely follow (the Book of God), 22 and constant in their prayers. 23 And those in whose wealth is a recognised right. 24 for the needy and the deprived, 25 And those who accept the truth of the judgment day 26 and go in fear of the chastisement of their Lord 27 for none may ever feel secure from the punishment of their Lord; 28 And those who guard their chastity (i.e. private parts from illegal sexual acts). 29 Except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they are not to be blamed - 30 But whoever seeks beyond that, then they are the transgressors - 31 And those who keep their pledges and their covenant, 32 And those who stand by their testimony 33 And those who protect their prayers. 34 Such shall dwell in the Gardens (i.e. Paradise) honoured. 35
