The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
44 verses, revealed in Mecca after Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah) before The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
A requester seeks the punishment that will take place 1 The Unbelievers, the which there is none to ward off,- 2 From Allah, the Lord of the ways of Ascent. 3 The angels and Jibreel, ascend towards Him the punishment will befall on a day which spans fifty thousand years. 4 So persevere with becoming patience. 5 They think that it (the Day of Judgment) is far away. 6 But We see it very near. 7 On that Day the heaven shall become like molten copper, 8 and the mountains shall be like puffs of wool. 9 and no bosom friend will enquire about any of his bosom friends 10 Though they shall be made to see one another [(i.e. on the Day of Resurrection), there will be none but see his father, children and relatives, but he will neither speak to them nor will ask them for any help)], - the Mujrim, (criminal, sinner, disbeliever, etc.) would desire to ransom himself from the punishment of that Day by his children. 11 his wife, his brother, 12 And his family who had stood by him, 13 and whosoever is in the earth, all together, so that then it might deliver him. 14 No! Indeed, it is the Flame [of Hell], 15 Eager to roast; 16 It will claim all such as turn their backs [on what is right,] and turn away [from the truth,] 17 And accumulated wealth and hoarded it. 18 ۞ Verily man is impatient by nature: 19 bewailing when evil befalls him, 20 And when good touches him, withholding [of it], 21 save those that pray 22 Those who are constant in their prayer 23 And those in whose riches is a known right. 24 for the impoverished nonrequester and the requester, 25 And those who accept the truth of the judgment day 26 and who stand in dread of their Sustainer's chastisement 27 for none is secure from the punishment of their Lord, 28 and who are mindful of their chastity, 29 Save with their wives and those whom their right hands possess, for thus they are not blameworthy; 30 but whoever goes beyond this is a transgressor; 31 And those who keep their trusts and covenants; 32 And those who stand firm in their testimonies; 33 And those who [carefully] maintain their prayer: 34 These will dwell in Gardens, honoured. 35

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
