The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
A caller supplicated about a punishment to fall on 1 Upon the disbelievers, which none can repel, 2 (A punishment) from Allah, the Owner of the Elevated Passages. 3 by which the angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him in one Day which will last for fifty thousand years. 4 Therefore endure with a goodly patience. 5 Surely they think it to be far off, 6 but We see it near. 7 On that Day the heavens shall become like molten brass, 8 And the mountains will be like wool, 9 And no familiar friend will ask a question of his friend 10 They will be seeing them; the guilty will wish if only he could redeem himself from the punishment of that day, by offering his sons. 11 his companion (wife), his brother, 12 And the family in which he was. 13 and whosoever is in the earth, altogether, so that it might save him. 14 But no! There is a raging blaze 15 will strip-off the flesh 16 calling him who drew back and turned away, 17 and who accumulated wealth without spending it for a good purpose. 18 ۞ Indeed, mankind was created anxious: 19 Very nervous when touched by misfortune. 20 and tight-fisted when good fortune visits him, 21 Except those who closely follow (the Book of God), 22 Those who remain constant in their Salat (prayers); 23 And those in whose riches is a known right. 24 for the beggar and the outcast, 25 And those who believe in the Day of Recompense, 26 And those who are fearful of their Lord's doom - 27 for none may ever feel secure from the punishment of their Lord; 28 who guard their carnal desires 29 save from their wives and what their right hands own, then not being blameworthy 30 But he who seeks to go beyond this, these it is that go beyond the limits-- 31 and who are faithful to their trusts and to their pledges: 32 And those who stand firm in their testimonies. 33 and who observe their prayers. 34 Such shall dwell in the Gardens (i.e. Paradise) honoured. 35
