The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
A supplicant asked for a punishment bound to happen 1 to those who deny the truth. No power can hinder God 2 From Allah, the Lord of all pinnacles. 3 The angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him during a Day the extent of which is fifty thousand years. 4 So be patient (O Muhammad SAW), with a good patience. 5 they see it as being far off; 6 while We think that it is near at hand. 7 On the Day the sky will be like murky oil, 8 And the mountains will be like wool, 9 And no friend will ask concerning his friend. 10 Though they will be put in sight of each other,- the sinner's desire will be: Would that he could redeem himself from the Penalty of that Day by (sacrificing) his children, 11 His wife and his brother, 12 His kindred who sheltered him, 13 And all that are in the earth, so that it might save him. 14 But nay! Verily, all [that awaits him] is a raging flame, 15 that will strip off the scalp. 16 It shall claim him who turned and fled (from truth), 17 And collected [wealth] and hoarded. 18 ۞ Indeed, man is born impatient: 19 When evil touches him, impatient, 20 and tight-fisted when good fortune visits him, 21 save those that pray 22 Who are at their prayer constant. 23 those in whose wealth is a right known 24 to those who ask [for help] and to the destitute; 25 And those who believe in the Day of Judgement, 26 and go in fear of the punishment of their Lord, 27 Surely no one can be secure from the punishment of his Lord, -- 28 And those who guard their chastity, 29 except from their wives and what their right hands own, for these they are not blameworthy. 30 But whoever seeks beyond that, then they are the transgressors - 31 who honor their trust and promises, 32 and who stand firm whenever they bear witness; 33 and who take due care of their Prayer: 34 Such will be the honoured ones in the Gardens (of Bliss). 35
