Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
We sent Noah to his nation, saying: 'Give warning to your nation before a painful punishment overtakes them' 1 Noah said: “My people, I have certainly been sent as a clear warner to you, 2 [Saying], 'Worship Allah, fear Him and obey me. 3 so that He may forgive you some of your sins, and grant you respite until a term known [to Him alone]: but, behold, when the term appointed by God does come, it can never be put back - if you but knew it!" 4 He said, “My Lord! I invited my people night and day.” 5 "But all my calling added nothing but to (their) flight (from the truth). 6 "And every time I have called to them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they have (only) thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance. 7 "Then verily, I called to them openly (aloud); 8 And declared to them in public and in private, 9 And I said: ask forgiveness of your Lord; verily He is ever Most Forgiving. 10 He will send down upon you the cloud, pouring down abundance of rain: 11 rain from the sky, 12 What is [the matter] with you that you do not attribute to Allah [due] grandeur 13 ‘Whereas it is He Who created you in different stages?’ 14 "'See ye not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 And made the moon therein a [reflected] light and made the sun a burning lamp? 16 how God has produced you from the earth and caused you to grow, 17 Then He returns you to it, then will He bring you forth a (new) bringing forth: 18 And Allah has made for you the earth a wide expanse, 19 That of it ye may traverse the ways open. 20
